Spain's new king Felipe VI receives the royal sash

Spain's new king, Felipe VI has received the royal sash from his father Juan Carlos who signed his abdication on Wednesday, ending 39 years of reign.

The sash ceremony was the first of Thursday's proclamation events. Felipe VI, 46, was handed the sash during a ceremony at the Zarzuela palace as he prepared to head to the Spanish Congress where he was sworn in.
