Thank you Dr. Jane. I've just finished "Tragic Mountain", and was very inspiring. I'm writing a paper about the Hmong because I have a Hmong classmate, Coua, who has been very kind to me and is very bright. I attended a Hmong Festival in Appalachian State University and wanted to learn more about their culture. As you said, they are very proper and have fine manners too. I wish you the best in the years to come and I hope you could come and visit ASU some day.

There were people of varies ethnic that snuck across the border even though they sided with Pathet Lao. I was told that many traders that used to kill the Hmong from fleeing would flip around and flee. I personally know a Lao friend who told me that her father confessed to his kids on his death bed that he was one of the soldier that used to guard the Lao boarder from Hmong fleeing to Thailand. Once he saw an opportunity he took his family and fled as well. I’m not sure how he pass the interview but he did.

Thank you Dr. Jane  and for the interview. I lived through the war in Laos and disease infested refugee camps in Thailand and landed in MN at the age of 9 in 1979. Also thank you GVP for your leadership and for paving the way to a better future. We have many successful and prestigious  Hmong professionals in the 38 years, and not to mention I spent the last 15 years working for the US Dept of Energy in DC. I foresee the success of my people and their continued contributions to the world in various disciplines. Cheers!
