The reason why all of these interviews are awkward is because it's a group of six people that are used to being able to just let words fly out of their mouth at will, now they have to be mindful of the other people being interviewed. They don't want one person to talk over the other, so there's always awkward pauses and such. Plus, Jimmy's an awkward person.
