I remember being in the crowd of the first MoR and being blown away by this song in particular. 42 years. Still a favourite. April Wine, Saxon and Judas Priest were excellent too all topped off by Rainbow. The first festival for me aged 16. Only beaten by Reading Rock 2 years later.

I was 9 years old at the time of this Monsters of Rock. I think I started going when I was 13.
Remember the year the crowd surged and stage fell? A friend from school was the one seriously injured and in a coma for ages. We didn't know if he'd survive, he did but always seemed quite frail afterwards. Iirc someone else did die but I didn't know them.

I was there, it was a baking hot, great day, Saxon Scorpions and Judas Priest blew the place away, Rainbow were decent, but you could feel their was tension between Bonnet and Blackmore. I recall Klaus running on and having to immediately adjust the mic stand as the mic was at normal height.
