In this tutorial I show you how to model a 2D AutoCAD drawing in Revit.

Revit Shortcuts:

GR - Grid
RE - Scale
EL - Elevation
VR - View Range
CL - Structural Column
MM - Mirror (pick axis)
DM - Mirror (draw axis)
UN - Project Units
WA - Wall
CS - Create Similar
RP - Reference Plane
Al - Align
SL - Split Element
OF - Offset
TR - Trim/Extend
AR - Array
CO - Copy
TX - Text
LI - Model Lines
DL - Detail LInes
RR - Render
RY - Ray Trace
GD - Graphic Display Options
TL - Thin Lines
GP - Group
LG - Project form Group

Nice to see something that I actually have to do at work! Gives me a bit of confidence that I don't do everything wrong... However I have learned for myself that small objects are better off being made completely new without linking the cad files- I just take the printout with dimensions on it and model them in revit- for a normal family home this seems faster and has the added bonus of getting rid of any .0002 imperfections in autocad and you find other flaws like doors that are slightly out of the grid..

Hello Balkan, one doubt, because you moved the origin of coordinates in autocad, but when inserting the file in revit by origin to origin, it keeps using the WCS, not the new position. is that so?

sorry but how the 2d part started ? Can you provide the link from where the 2d part started from scratch ? I am interested to try it and i am still a beginner . Thank you

When i go to the 3d view my level lines aren't showing but i have already checked the visibility graphics still nothing:/ any solns?

If you don't have section how can we create section in Revit imported from CAD File.... I imported my cad file DWG in to Revit and made section in Revit and it appears only one level line no fixtures of sections why? Please help me how to do easily sections and Elevations in Revit Imported from CAD DWG file

why i can't import the section part to the section? instead it imported to the west/north?
