Why am I so adamant on holding Core ETFs (Exchange-Traded Funds) in my portfolios? This video speaks about the importance of holding Core ETFs like an S&P 500 and a NASDAQ 100 ETF in your portfolio for consistency in average baseline stock market portfolio returns. We also speak about some elements to look out for when assessing a core vs secondary ETF. Enjoy! Follow me on Instagram and TikTok: Griffin Milks

Such an underappreciated point, Griffin! While it can be fun and exciting to pick your own stocks, if you're not putting in some serious research and time, it's usually best to go with a fund that captures more of the entire market! I like to think of it as two baskets, your core "don't touch" investments, and your more speculative high conviction plays. Based on age/expectations/tolerance to risk, you can weigh each basket differently in your portfolio! :) Great content, Griffin! :)

Back to the basic today with some "Core ETF" talk. It's fun to actively manage stocks and try to beat the market, but it is always important to hold core ETFs for more steady baseline portfolio returns.

I like to go with 50% index funds. 25% XGRO, 20% VFV & 5% HXQ. Gives me international exposure through XGRO, and a total of 10% of that half in bonds.

Great video as always, but I noticed recently my vfv has been going down even tho sp500 is up.. probably due to US dollar value dropping. Do you think it's a good idea to switch to hedge instead for now until US dollar is stable?

Hi Griffin, thanks for your video. I am currently holding vfv and hxq in my portfolio as core. What do you think of VI FTSE Developed All Cap ex North America Index ETF (CAD-hedged). I wanted to add some global exposure and I'll be adding VDY also for some steady income. Thanks in advance for your input. Have a good one!

Great video man, curious on what your opinion is when the USD is depreciating, should I switch to a CAD hedged index like VSP or stick with VFV through these bumps. Thanks for the helpful content!

Hey Griffin, was hoping you would make a video on covered calls, don't think these type of ETFs have ever been discussed on the channel, would love your opinion good or bad, thanks for all the content!

With the market super heated is this the right time (July 2021) to buy if I have cash on the side? I understand all the long term view, market timing etc. but logically buying low is better than buying at the top, your overall return is much better. Any thoughts?

As a Canadian, is there any downside to Owning VOO (USD) vs VFV (CAD)? I own both. Is that redundant? If so should I sell VOO and move to VFV?

Hi Griffin
What are your thoughts on ZNQ. I know BMO and I shares have the CDN hedged version of the NASDAQ etf.
I prefer investing UN hedged.

Hi Griffin, thanks for making this video. I'm about to implement a slightly adjusted version of the rational reminder portfolio (84% VEQT + 10% AVUV + 6% AVDV) which adds a small cap value tilt to the portfolio. However, I'd still like to have an additional "beer money" portfolio that is focused on growth and a little speculation. Other than some individual stocks, do you have any ETFs that you recommend for that? Obviously there's ARK, ZCLN, CYBR etc. But I'm wondering if there's anything else you'd suggest or a particular favourite. Thanks for all the great content!

Is there any difference between different S&P 500 index funds? For example, BMO's ZSP.TO vs Vanguard's VFV.TO?

Small-cap US index funds are very underrated. In fact, they've outperformed the s&p 500 consistently. Not sure why they rarely receive mention so I was happy to see you mention them Griffin.
