Hello everyone! Welcome to the third airshow of the year!
Here we are at the bi-annual airshow of the Great Lakes International Airshow held at St. Thomas Municipal Airport in St. Thomas, Ontario. St. Thomas Municipal Airport is a local municipal airport in southern Ontario and is a common location for private and local pilots to fly out of in terms of general aviation aircraft. A cool feature about this airport is that it features the three runway system which was used by British Commonwealth pilots in Canada during World War I. Now onto the airshow, my first time doing it, so lets get started!
Here is the first jet performer of the day at the Great Lakes International Airshow of 2018 or GLIAS as it is abbreviated; the RCAF CF-18 Hornet Demo Team with Capt. Stefan Porteous, call sign "PORCELAIN" at the controls. For GLIAS, the Hornet was staged out of London Int'l due to the fact that St. Thomas' RWY wasn't fitted with an arrestor cable, something that my fellow St. Thomas friends found a little unusual considering previous Hornets have landed at St. Thomas in the past. Nevertheless, the Hornet came in from behind to start a full high show demo with every maneuver being showcased! I was finally glad to catch it flying in the sun and with an amazing vantage point we had too, right on top of a trailer!
Enjoy the video everyone! And I'll catch you in the next one! :)
