Abiding in Christ (1 John 2:27-28)

John emphasizes our need to abide in Christ, assuring us we have what we need. False teachers keep trying to lead us astray. We need to believe the promises of God and not listen to those who offer new revelations. The false teachers claimed a unique anointing that gave them access to spiritual truth that ordinary Christians lacked. This is false because all true Christians are anointed by God. We abide and God and are indwelt by the Holy Spirit: this never makes us unstable. We need to abide in the truth we receive in Christ whether it is popular or not.
