Our local Forestry guys testing the Thrush and getting some practice. Hopefully this will prove to be invaluable at suppressing fires as soon as they find them, before it burns up thousands of acres.

Now if only the ground fire crews actually wanted the fires extinguished before they burned thousands of acres. Unfortunately that hazard pay is just too hard to pass up. Very sad state of affairs when that is the case. And believe me I have actually been in this type of situation and witnessed the "what I would call corruption" first hand. My family are cattle ranchers.

Long story short, while driving through the mountains one day we came upon the very beginning of a forest fire. The 5 of us proceeded to use shovels and drinking water, and busted ass for a good 20 minutes and somehow managed to get about an acre fire under control. Shortly after, a forest service fire crew arrived on the scene. The leader told us to get away from the fire and to leave it alone and let it burn.

The fire went on to burn close to a thousand acres before it was finally contained a few weeks later. Beautiful forest land destroyed that will never again look the same in my lifetime, but healthy bank accounts for the fire fighters. I lost some faith in humanity on that day.
