Corel VideoStudio Pro X5 Review

In this video I review Corel VideoStudio Pro X5. This latest version of VideoStudio features new screen recording features allowing you to use VideoStudio X5 for screencasts, exporting HTML5 video in both H.264 and WebM for use on the web, importing multi-layer images from Corel PaintShop Pro, support for 50p and 60p footage for editing and performance enhancements, additional support for .MPO 3D images as well as 3D video. Corel VideoStudio Pro X5 is available for download today for $80 or $60 as an upgrade. There is also a free trial download of VideoStudio available.

I've been dealing with this issue also. Something that I just learned from this video is, if you have a bad/slow computer go to Settings>Preferences>Enable Smart Proxy See if that helps. :)

For mac, most people recommend Final Cut pro, thought I never used it (don't own a mac :)), but heard many good things about it. There is also a mac version Adobe Premiere pro, which in many case can be a good deal (Photoshop is always very handy, and the integration with After Effects for more advanced effects is always welcome, it can be less costly to buy an Aodbe suite than buying FC and the other software separately).

But of course, these are a lot more expensive than VideoStudio...

I have x4 and it works good, but one thing that I'm looking for in an editor is the ability to have overlay effects like iMovie, but a program that's not too expensive.

Nice review - product site says it supports "21 multimedia tracks" - is there a limit as to how many of these can be video tracks? I'd like to have many (6-8) video picture-in-picture videos playing at the same time ... will this software do that. I use Pinacle Studio now and it can just have 2 video's at once - for more videos playing at the same time I have to render 2 videos down to 1 and then add 3rd, render, add 4th, render etc ...
