NTV PANORAMA: Lweza land row sucks in top officials

The unresolved land question and the rampant eviction of bibanja holders (squatters), especially in central region, without a doubt, cost the ruling NRM party in the just concluded presidential elections in which President Museveni polled 58 per cent.

For a long time the President has warned against evictions, like in one land case at Birongo-Lweza zone along the Kampala-Entebbe Expressway in which the claimants include bibanja holders and a group of businessmen using names of top military officials.

There is no evidence to prove that the officials are involved and a March 2017 Police investigation report concluded that the businessmen were peddling a fake land title.

So why then did police evict the bibanja holders who have now been reduced to paupers?

Everyone should submit their papers then the supreme court should rule who the land belongs to. I do not know why this is so hard. Police enforcing evictions without order should be punished and ranking officers sacked or demoted

If someone has stolen your land, and it is genuinely yours you dont claim for compensation, you fight for what is yours! Do not ask for compensation if that was your land! Keep your titles and a time will come when you will get your land back!
