It has been one week since the announcement of Atsushi Sakurai's death from a brainstem hemorrhage on Oct 19, 2023. I am just able to start watching their performances without breaking into tears. I will always be a fan of BUCK-TICK. It is hard to imagine them going on as BUCK-TICK without Acchan, who was the main lyricist and put so much into all the live performances. 38 years performing together, 36 since their label debut. 23 studio albums, 263 individual songs (that was the statistic I had), and a world-wide following even though they stayed very loyal to their Japanese fanbase and roots. It isn't just the loss of Acchan we (the Fish, the "W"s, the L&M of particular note) are mourning right now, it is the possible loss of the entire band. Memorials at Japanese Consulates around the world are just one of the things that show the love for this band that started in a tiny country town in Gunma prefecture. All love and peace.
