USS Tennessee was launched in 1917 and commissioned in 1920. She served the entirety of her career with the US Pacific Fleet, and was present at Pearl Harbor on December 7th, 1941. Trapped by the burning vessels all around her, her crew worked diligently to put out the fires that threatened her. She rose from the ashes of Pearl Harbor and found a new role with the fleet as a fire support ship. Tennessee bombarded islands from the Aleutians in Alaska, to the Central Pacific, the Philippines, Iwo Jima and Okinawa. She even found the time to participate in the last battle line confrontation in history at the Battle of Surigao Strait, where she fought against her own kind for the 1st time in her career. Over the course of the Pacific War, Tennessee fired over 9,000 fourteen inch, 46,000 five inch and 100,000 anti aircraft rounds. With the onset of peace in late 1945, she was placed in the mothball fleet until being sent to the scrappers in 1959.

I think its amazing that most of the Battleships at Pearl ended up getting their revenge at Surigao Strait.

1959 was a sad year for many of our Naval Warriors.

Too damned bad we couldn't manage to save her as a museum. Few ships in the Navy did more in World War II.

False.
USS Tennessee was laid down in 1917.
She was not launched until 1919.

If you are going to post a video about a ship that fought in Word War Two, then do your proper research and get your facts straight. Otherwise don't post anything.
