Well done. But incomplete: Mr. Harvey neglects the simple point that all of these syllables strung together tumble out (with a low and partly voiceless growl) to _sound like thunder._ It's onomatopoeia to a T. Not a thunderclap on the tree next across the road (BANG!), but a strike at some distance, whose thunder booms, and reverberates, and booms on and on...

badal - means cloud in Baba is a word of respect and endearment for an elder like a father or the first word may be interpreted according to that as well...

I just read it as onomatopoeia for something tumbling since it is preceded by the word “fall”

LOVE THIS! Thanks. My favourite 'thunderword' is the one that starts off sounding like it's saying "both all characters chummin' around" and then gets progressively nuttier from there.

This video is noteworthy because it actually breaks it down extremely well in terms of how to pronounce and speak it. JoyceGeek is therefore to be commended for not rushing through the reading. And for whatever it's worth, I love the animations that serve as a "bouncing ball"! Thank you so much.

Adam, This video is fantastic. Thanks very much. I cannot wait to watch the rest of them. I have just started the Wake. I have read Ulysses twice and loved it. I must confess I do find the Wake Challenging but this helps. Thank again for this.

It's like a massive merging of Tagalog, Gaelic, and ancient Egyptian.

The thought that no matter how much time I can spend on reading Finnegan's Wake, I could spend a life time, and still not completely understand it .. makes me want to

It took Joyce 17 years. How the FUCK did he write it? I can't even imagine
