Wow, the lighting, rendering and texturing is unbelievable for cinema 4d. The best cinema 4d short i have seen so far. perfection.

I want him to compose more music like this. It sounds straight out of AC2. Perfect.

I am not the author, but it looks great due to vray and authors skillset. Render times would be around 10 minutes a frame. DOF and textures makes it shine. Great job

Depth of field can be done in post production and most likely is. Render times will depend on the computer used. Most shorts are sent to a low cost render farm so was probably rendered over night.
Also this is the physical renderer in C4D not VRay.
But I agree. The textures turn this into a beautiful piece!

You don't even need Cappucino lol, but it can let you do wonderful things. :)

The easiest way i can think of is by taking a model of a head and Sperify it(deformer) over time with some keyframes. The use Cappucino module to capture the PLA keys and reverse them afterwards. Then you have a sphere morphing into a head. Should work, haven't tried it.

it would be cool that balls formed the head's beard xD

I'm assuming this was done in CInema 4D right? I mean, I can see it all, the clone tool, the attractor MoGraph etc... but how was so much detail produced in the carving of the face, and the texture of the walls... that's beyond me. Am I missing a plugin or what? Can someone help me out here? Also, I can't think of the rendering time that this must have taken.

Well, from a maya point of view it looks like it could of been set up in lots of ways. The face would be an ncloth object with animated pressure values. The face would be a 'goal' for the instanced nparticles with values being keyed. No plugins required just some maya jedi skill.

Maya makes it so much easier. but clearly hes spent a lot of time... good stuff

i also see cinema 4D, but the walls are for me just good texture, the face made in Zbrush or could be made in cinema 4D sculpting tool but the transformation i found interesting i have two possibilities ho it could have been done i would need to test both before saying them, or there is some easier way how to do it

this would be cinema 4d with the new vray renderer.
