My goal was to capture the Lobster Claw (SH2-157), Bubble Nebula (NGC 7635), and Northern Lagoon (NGC 7635) in the same picture, but I didn't know I would also be capturing a bright Nova.

Nova Cas 2021 (V1405 Cas) was first discovered on March 18 in the constellation, Cassiopeiae. But it has now brightened so much, it's visible to the naked eye.

This is the astrophotography setup I used to capture it with:

Imaging Telescope:
Celestron RASA 8-inch

Imaging Camera:
ZWO ASI1600MM Pro

Mount:
Sky-Watcher EQ6-R Pro

Polar Alignment:
QHYCCD PoleMaster

Frames:

Baader Ha: 93x180" (gain: 75, offset: 15)
Baader OIII: 202x60" (gain: 75, offset: 15)
Baader SII: 99x180" (gain: 75, offset: 15)

Integration: 13.27 hours

Guide Scope:
ZWO 60mm Guide Scope

Guide Camera:
ZWO ASI224MC

Guide Software:
PHD2

Calibration Frames:
Darks: 20, Bias: 20, Flats: 50

Capture software:
Sequence Generator Pro (SGP)

Stacking software:
PixInsight

That's awesome Chuck! - What a cool thing to have captured!
Just thinking about the titanically powerful events that must have occured such a long time ago, only for us to just see it now as a brightening dot of light - it's an amazing thought of perspective!

What a great surprise Chuck to have captured this. 🤯 Blows the mind to think how long ago this would have happened and there's your scope capturing the light.
