I always loved that Theme Song, I always loved that car. I was a small kid when this was on TV. We had B/W tvs then but always thought that the corvette was red. I didn't find out until years later that it was blue when I saw a pic of it on the internet.

A little before my time, but I'd love to see some of these episodes in reruns today. I don't mind a black and white series. It's the content not the color that counts!

A really Great series! Totally not dated. So many of the same stories in the show that apply today. I think Youtube now has all the eps. I prefer to watch them on TV, on some of the retro TV channels that exist. The show can be deeper than maybe what most viewers want. Long Live Route 66!!!

On one U Tube film it shows them driving west bound out of the Fort Pitt Tunnels, or Tubes as we sayin Pittsburgh. Drove into Pittsburgh yesterday, and the entrance/ exit to the tubes are exactly the same!

Hoping someone reading this can help.
I used to have nightmares from the credits of Route 66 and Big G - which was the rename in the UK of a programme originally called Empire in the US ! I thought I was 4 at the time but found out in April I was not quite 3! There was a scene that used to appear at the end of the credits of both programmes, I think with a shouty word. A long word was displayed at the bottom of the screen and I think a man, woman and dog crossing the road left to right of the screen diagonally above!
I remembered the theme tune of Route 66 and the advert break picture for Big G! I think Big G was shouted out at the beginning of the programme! Too young to remember the actual programmes! But I would like to face what frightened me! Thanks to YouTube have been able to face other credits, tunes on shows that gave me nightmares! Would appreciate any enlightenment on the startling extra end credit above! Was it only in the UK or only for a while?! Also would really appreciate seeing opening and closing credits for Big G as it was in the UK! Have already messaged the people who have put Empire on YouTube about these! But if anyone can help on this also, it wd be fantastic!

Are they actually driving on "old" route 66 on the opening credits? I always heard there was an older road called 66 before the one that is there now.

dont see how what you say here is possible. the show that aired on sept 7, 1960 was the first show, black November. it was the only show of the entire series that featured the 1960 vette. this video clearly has the 1961 in it.
