How to Configure NetFlow for Cisco Routers and Switches Running IOS

This video will show you how to configure a Cisco® router to export NetFlow data using NetFlow version 9, also known as Flexible NetFlow. Depending on the Cisco device you are using, there may be additional steps required to successfully collect ingress and egress flow data. However, in general, there are four basic steps to capturing flow data using Flexible NetFlow: create a flow record, create a flow exporter, create a flow monitor, and apply the flow monitor to interfaces.

An add-on to Network Performance Monitor (NPM), SolarWinds® NetFlow Traffic Analyzer (NTA) is a multi-vendor flow analysis tool designed to proactively reduce network downtime. NTA delivers actionable insights to help IT pros troubleshoot and optimize spend on bandwidth by better understanding the who, what, and where of traffic consumption. Solve practical operational infrastructure problems with actionable insights and save money with informed network investments.

PuTTY is a free SSH® and telnet client for Windows® platform. SolarWinds does not own or distribute PuTTY.

I have 2 questions here:

1. Netflow is cisco proprietary protocol. So how solar winds are able to use this protocol?
2. If Netflow exporter source interface and the interface throufh which we have called netflow monitor is if different vrf, should we need to perform route leaking between vrf? if so, how to do it

What is the difference between configuring it this way or using the commands 'ip flow-export' or 'ip flow-cache' or the ' ip flow ingress (intf subcmd) ? Which method is more relevant now or for the CCNP route ? This topic is not included in the cisco press book but is there in the objectives...
