You'll need the rain coat over the next couple of days. We're going to see off-and-on showers throughout the day Tuesday with a slight chance for thunderstorms, especially south of the Triangle. There is only a slight chance for storms to get severe on Tuesday, especially in the Sandhills, south and west. Wind damage is the biggest threat. Wind could blow at gusts of up to 25 mph even where thunderstorms do not develop. There is a chance of rain in the forecast each day of the next seven. Most of that will just be wet, not severe, although thunderstorms are possible with warm temperatures on Wednesday afternoon. As the atmosphere heats up and storms pop up, most of the state will be under a Level 1 risk on Wednesday. Rain chances will increase around 2 p.m.

Thursday will be mostly dry and less humid, with just a 20% chance for rain. The warmer temperatures and chance for afternoon storms returns for Friday and Saturday. Over the next five days, some areas could see more than 1.5 inches of rain.
