When I enlisted in the military at 17 back in 1981 - during basic training we were only permitted personal items in the barracks that literally fit in one single shoebox. Mine included a Sony walkman and about 6 cassette tapes - one of which was Completion Backwards Principle. During the long months of basic training that tape got play over and over and over and over often late into the night when we were spit-shinin' shoes, doin' laundry...getting ready for morning inspection every single day. Don't remember what the other tapes were - may have been an Alan Parsons and an Ozzie tape. But I distinctly remember the Tubes tape and all these years later whenever I hear a track from Completion Backwards...I instantly flashback to that point in time. Great solo cover... definitely nailed it!

Such an underrated album. A masterpiece full of what could easily be like 10 billboard hits! Great job

Boy....you NAILED it. Hey- I’m just the bass player....but I cannot hide my (usually absent) smile whenever I hear this Luk solo. It’s just so fun. You even hit the David Gilmour high note on the end of the first part of the solo. You did a wonderful job at capturing the feel of this solo man. Thank you for posting.

As I mentioned near the close of the last record, THIS record you are now playing is another example of the "Completion Backward Principle". If you can possibly manage the time...please play both sides at one meeting.

Incredible picking hand. Just an incredibly young genius with his homemade guitar.

omg... thank you for this!!! I had to learn this for my cover band, you saved me... I revisit this quite often, I've searched for anything concerning this solo and this is just so spot on. Absolutely fantastic

One of the all-time great guitar solos! His outro solo on Henley's Dirty Laundry is another classic.

I have been following the Tubes since they moved to San Francisco and was friends with Bill Spooner for a while. Loved this solo and not surprised that Lukather was the guitar player. Always wondered whether this solo was improvised or worked out before the track was recorded. One of the best guitar solos ever recorded in my opinion and should have been in the top 100.

Your tone is fantastic, as for Luke, pound for pound he’s bar none the BEST.

Greetings from Texas. Very nicely played! You make it look easy sir... now, back to my Eric Johnson chores. Oh, the life of a Texas guitar player...

That's about as dead accurate as it's possible to be. I've also learned this solo, the only difference is I double-time the picking in the ascending run :30 to :33. Great stuff, thanks for sharing.
