'The Blob Main Title Theme' (Unused) Ralph Carmichael (1958)

“The Blob – Main Title Theme” was written by Ralph Carmichael for the 1958 cult-classic film “The Blob.” Ralph composed the majority of the music for the film and conducted the orchestra for the soundtrack. This main title theme, however, was not used in the film. As a last-minute addition, Burt Bacharach and Mack David (brother of Bacharach’s long-time writing partner, Hal) were asked by Paramount (the film’s distributor) to write a new title song, thinking a pop tune would help with the marketing. The film starred Steve McQueen and Aneta Corsaut, both in their film debuts.
