Fun fact: protection works different on armor than on tools. On tools, 1 level of unbreaking gets you (on average) and extra 100% to its lifespan, but on armor, the chance of a point of damage being ignored approaches around 45% I think, so unbreaking armor only lasts about twice as long as unenchanted armor, and only a tiny fraction longer than unbreaking 10 armor.
