👉 Learn how to find the partial sum of an arithmetic series. A series is the sum of the terms of a sequence. An arithmetic series is the sum of the terms of an arithmetic sequence. The formula for the sum of n terms of an arithmetic sequence is given by Sn = n/2 [2a + (n - 1)d], where a is the first term, n is the term number and d is the common difference. Where the last term is known, we can use Sn = n/2 (a + l) where l is the last term.

You are a fantastic teacher. I also have a great math teacher. But its different when you have to be in class vs when you seek out help at home on your own and are able to pause and replay at will. I'm really getting this. Thankyou.

If only my math teachers would be as good and exited about teaching as you. You make people exited about math (with the exception of Jaden), something that every high school math teacher I've had has failed to do.

Was kind of just daydreaming about math and came up with my own equation. Wanted to see if it was the same and was normal and was pleasantly surprised to see that there's a much easier solution for it.
y = x((0.5x)+0.5) will give you a sequence starting at 1, where x is the highest number. Technically if the starting sum isn't 1, you can just the above formula for the highest number, minus the above formula for the lowest number - 1.

ex) Sequence from 7 to 20
20((0.5(20))+0.5) - 6((0.5(6))+0.5) = 20(10.5) - 6(3.5) = 189

Or for a simpler example, a sequence of 4 to 6
6((0.5(6))+0.5) - 3((0.5(3))+0.5) = 6(3.5) - 3(2) = 15

They're probably based off one another in that
n = total integers = last integer - first integer + 1
Then because it's assumed that the first integer is 1, we get
last integer - 1 + 1 = last integer
Which turns the arithmetic series in the video into
(last integer/2)(1 + last integer) =
(1/2)(last integer)(1 + last integer) =
last integer(0.5 + last integer/2)
And that brings us back to the formula I used, which was
x((0.5x)+0.5)

Math is weird.

Thank you for the video!

Next time someone asks “when will I use this in real life?” Be like, ‘when you play Magic The Gathering!’ Was play testing my deck and was trying to do this exact example except a1=9. Thanks for the video. Try turning the gain down on your mic though. It’s pretty clipped.
