I LOVE vultures. They're smart, playful, and friendly. I've often pulled roadkill off to the side so the vultures don't get hit by cars.

I used to work for a wildlife center and we had a black head vulture that after his recovery we tried to release. He left only once with a flock of vultures but came back after a week and never left again. From all the wildlife we where taken care of he was my favorite. We named him Igor and we always hoped he would figure out that he is a vulture but again he decided to stay.
They are the best and so so smart

Black vultures are pretty common on my ranch property in Texas. I always throw my arms out to see if we have two of the regulars out when I see a group. There is 2 or 3 out here that recognize a human throwing their arms out like a big hug as a welcome and open their wing span in response. Its kind of magical to see a response from a wild animal like that without the expectation of food from you.

My cousin in Texas has volunteered at a bird rescue the past 7 years. An injured vulture was brought in, and the vulture chose my cousin, who named her Morticia! Morticia often goes to schools and other facilities to demonstrate how injured birds can be rehabbed. She is a permanent feature of the bird rehab, has her delightful and ornery personality traits, and is a wonderful ambassador.

I’m so glad to see this video. Vultures rid our earth of carrion the same as bugs do. They have a specific job cleaning up and as gruesome as it may seem, this helps to rid us of the bacteria and disease humans would suffer if it were not for these environmental cleaners. Thank you Dodo for sharing their value to us and the earth. Also, who knew they could be so cute and affectionate?

No matter the the species, the ones that clean up after everyone’s mess do more good than most.

I had a game warden tell me about a black vulture he rescued as a baby and he said it was a super smart bird and very very clean. This tough old dude teared up saying one day he left and didn’t come back. He tagged the old boy but has never heard anything so he just doesn’t know. The attachment always bewildered me.
Thank you for your video, it gave me a lot of understanding.

In 5 minutes, we learned about “feaking, ” when a bird scrapes the sides of it’s beak against something to clean it off, and also about “rousing, ” the vigorous movement of their bodies and flapping of their wings to rearrange their feathers...
I love this channel!
I think it should be shown in school for students to learn from!

In my neighborhood there is a very, very tall tree with some dead branches poking out the top where our local waste management crew like to hang out. I drive by everyday on my way to work and look for the two vultures sunning and stretching and preening on top of that tree. They are truly magnificent. I was reminded of the invaluable work they do for the world when in less than 6 hours they completely recycled a dead squirrel in my front yard recently. Thank you Geo Beats for sharing their story!

Volunteered in high school with a zoo bird of prey program, and the vultures (turkey, black, and king) were my favorites. They have personalities very much like inquisitive young kids, very social, and definitely had their 'favorite' humans. It was a constant battle to keep finding new toys and puzzles to keep those little noggins occupied!

My cousin worked for years at a bird rescue/rehab in Texas. Someone brought in a vulture, and my cousin named her Morticia. Through the years, she and Morticia developed a close bond, to the extent Morticia did not like anyone else to work with her or even close to her enclosure. She was so bonded with my cousin that she took the vulture to schools and they did presentations for the students.

Birds are so underappreciated. They are smart and can show appreciation to those who help them. Great creatures.

They are stunning birds of prey. Very intelligent as well.

Black vultures are common in this part of Texas, and are clearly highly intelligent. They will work together and fly together in formations to maximise the seach area while looking for food. They also are not very scruffy looking and resemble condors.

I remember going to Alexander springs in Ocala Florida as a kid and the turkey vultures there would just wait for humans to make trash piles and they’d clean up everything. They stayed out of humans ways and vice versa. But I remember being fascinated by them. I never knew how big they were. Beautiful birds. I love the. They’re very misunderstood they’re the opossums of the bird world.
