I moved to London from another English city and I will say, small talk is definitely a think outside of London. After essentially 2 years without visiting home, I went to a place to order an iced tea and the guy asked me so many random questions and ended up telling me about his girlfriends travels and his future ambitions. I couldn’t believe it I practically ran back to the train station to London 😂. But being quieter is a massive bonus. Usually I can spot American tourists from a mile away, even when travelling around Europe. I can hear them before I see them!

I have lived all over the world in my life, but I become very British when it comes to queueing! It's just so much more efficient and courteous to have one big queue and take your turn. And in countries where everybody just goes where they can, I just... quietly seethe about it, because I'm British 😅
