Identity's Last Secret
Makarand R. Paranjape in conversation with Pariksith Singh

A Jaipur Literature Festival First Edition book launch! As writer and Festival Co-Director Namita Gokhale says, this is a session on an unexpected and unconventional book by Makarand R Paranjape — “a compendium of mantras, spells and incantations, of verses, observations and wry humour. Philosophical, provocative and challenging”. Makarand R Paranjape’s poems have the quality of the Upanishadic mantras, which open gateways for the transcendental consciousness and changes sound into flashes of enlightenment.

Makarand R Paranjape has been a Professor of English at JNU, New Delhi. He served as Director of the Indian Institute of Advanced Study, Shimla and is the author and editor of over fifty books, one hundred and eighty academic papers, and thousands of articles. His latest books include JNU: Nationalism and India’s Uncivil War, Identity’s Last Secret, Swami Vivekananda: Hinduism and India’s Road to Modernity, and The Death and Afterlife of Mahatma Gandhi. Paranjape is currently a columnist in Open Magazine, Gulf News, The New Indian Express, and Firstpost.

Pariksith Singh, MD, is the CEO of Access Health Care, one of the largest group practices in Florida, USA. He is an essayist, poet, story-writer, translator, and medical educator who has published seven anthologies of poetry in Hindi and English. He has also published The Health Care Primer 2018, Health Care Compliance and Medicare Risk Adjustment.
