Thanks v much for this explanation. My mechanic just rang me after I dropped off the car for its annual service this morning and recommended I have the timing belt replaced. My car is a Kia Cerato hatch 2006 model and he and I don’t think it has ever been replaced. I’ve only done 79, 000 km (49, 088 miles) in that time mind (it’s my shopping cart on bigger wheels! 😅) but it’s well over 10 years. Spending this money now will, yes, save potentially a lot more money if the whole engine went kaboom! without the proper maintenance 💥🚙 💥. Thanks again for the explanation 😊.

Might be best to have the timing belt & water pump changed PRIOR to purchasing this pre-owned vehicle ! Interference engines are not designed to have delayed or improper servicing ! Can you say anything about Genuine vs aftermarket parts for this job ? In particular, the waterpumps - who makes highest quality (non Chinese) parts - Best to go back to Genuine, European parts ? Thank you !

My car has 60000 miles some times it has poor acceleration at low speeds no get up and go when pull out in traffic then it finally pick up speed like it ain't getting gas to the engine or fuel filter need clean

The best thing to do is stay away from vehicles with timing belt and go with the timing chain
