Louise of Belgium was the daughter of Kind Leopold II and Marie-Henriette. After her strict childhood, the Princess got caught in an unhappy marriage and thus started to become a partygirl. The princess enjoyed drinking, revealing clothing and had many loveaffairs. Her life was full of scandal, betrayal and adventure. Get to know more in my video :)

Fascinating! Thank you! Incredible that she survived her ghastly despicable father. She actually is a modern woman.

This is the first I have heard of her but it doesn't surprise me. She was very strong to make it through being in an asylum for that long. I definitely agree with her and it's how I've lived my life. Money is never the most important thing...in fact it's not even close to the top of the list when deciding whether to be in a relationship or stay in one. It's meant that I haven't had a lot of money in my life but that's ok. My family doesn't understand it and I think if it was a different time, they would try to put me in a insane asylum. I stopped living my life to please them in my early 20's.
But I will say I do know more than a little about asylums from that time period and she got lucky because it could have been much worse. I'm glad it wasn't and maybe her family didn't want her completely lobotomized but just kept out of the way so she couldn't cause anymore scandals but that doesn't mean other women didn't go through that all the way up to the 1950s or 60s. It was very easy back in the day to be able to put any female in your family away if you said they needed it. The problem with that is that then once they're at the asylum, they could be given a lobotomy, shock therapy or drugs that would basically do the same thing as either or both of the first two. Of course, the treatment all depends on the time period that they were in a facility but this can and still does happen to LGBTQ youth (even though it's supposed to be illegal in most of the US but I don't know what the laws are outside of it). It could also still happen (not the lobotomy, I don't think anyone does those anymore thankfully) to women because we don't have as much power usually as men. Just something to be aware of.

What a brave woman she was, standing up to her despotic hypocrite of a father. Yes, I do think it would make a great film. You should write the screenplay 😁

Thank you for this video, I’d never heard of her. I just discovered your channel a few days ago and really enjoy learning about the royals that aren’t well-known here in the US.

I knew next to nothing about this lady, she had a harsh unloving childhood her parents didn't seem to care, her life was not an easy one or a happy one, she found a little happiness in her life, all in all a very sad and lonely life, thank you for this lady's story excellent content.

Well, not every couple can be good at parenting, and that has a negative impact on the kids.

What a life she had! Her father King Leopold ll was a monster! His father, King Leopold l was Prince Alberts uncle. He would have been horrified by the genocide his son committed on the Congolese people
