These tenants should be able to break their lease without any repercussions. Not only that they need to condemn these buildings and have the department of health intervene as well.

That makes it even worse. Section 8 means the tenant pays thirty per cent of the market value price. Do you know what the market price is for a two bedroom apartment near the subway, with a semi.working elevator? The Government pays the other two thirds. Hes not losing money on this deal at all. The neighborhood has really turned around. Gentrification is creeping into Washington Heights. Im just curious, when was the last timd you were in Manhattans Washington Heights? Its a wonderful diversified community. Youre talking about the 1980s my friend.

What a joke. The landlord is an easy scapegoat. This place is probably flooded with rent control and section 8. These people are known to wreck the building and then blame the landlord for the condition they created. At the same time they tax the landlord to gills. As a result the building is a losing investment. They should get after the government for creating rent control and violating property rights. They are the ones at fault.
