Dusty Springfield was a wonderful voice.
Although she was a pop singer, and I read, although I do not know whether it is true or not, that she was lesbian, her voice is very feminine and moving.
I find her voice to be heart touching, most movingly feminine.
Perhaps it is true that some of the finest musicians have suffered greatly,
and I. suppose that might partly account for her wonderful voice and aural popular appeal, although she has great talent. . . for do not all humans suffer?
I will find out who wrote this song, whether a male or female. Female singers of songs written by men are a personal picquing point for me, sometimes, especially when they are written by groups of young males who are riding trends, as they are literally putting words into the mouths of the singers. That is most exploitative.
I think of the era of the 1960s and its social upheavals and how the female was presented mostly according to fulfill male desires and fantasies.
Dusty Springfield was physically beautiful, too, but she was all glammed
up for popular appeal. She must have
sufferered greatly.
