Plot: Scar & Sarabi used to rule the pridelands together before a rogue lion threatened Scars reign. He usurps Scars throne and brings along his adoptive son Kovu. Scar leaving behind his pregnant mate and two unborn daughters. Time goes by and Mufasa allows for them to coexist for a time, Kiara becoming especially close to Kiara before Mufasa takes his new queen and cubs back to pride rock, ultimately telling Sarabi that according to their laws any cubs belonging to the old king must die and she must bear him new off spring. Sarabi refuses to allow this and fights with Mufasa, ultimately getting slapped where she accidentally dies from the blow. Fearing for their lives, Nala and Kiara run away from the pridelands and wander for days until they're found alone and hungry by Bagheera. Taking pity on the cubs he decides to look out for them until they're old enough to fend for themselves. The trio take refuge in the jungle where they all become fast friends.

Years go by and Kiara and her sister Nala grow up into two beautiful lionesses. The sisters often enjoy teasing one another much to the amusement of Bagheera. But one day Nala decides to play coy with Bagheera and pushes him into the water, leading to a chase scene and them ending up in a slightly awkward situation where Nala reveals she has feelings for Bagheera. Both shocked and curious, Bagheera can't deny that he hasn't thought of her that way before and they start seeing each other, much to the dismay of Kiara whom also had a small crush on Bagheera. She runs off crying where Nala finds her later on after a nice evening with Bagheera. She comforts her with a nuzzle and asks whats wrong. Kiara snaps and accuses Nala of many things, calling her names before eventually running away in anger, unknowingly towards the pridelands.

On the border of the pridelands Mufasa, who has now been tempered with age, is teaching his son Kovu what it means to be a good king before Kovu is distracted by birds. Looking to impress his father, Kovu stalks over and pounces on the potential intruder, immediately recognizing her as Kiara. They're happy to see one another but it's short lived when Mufasa intervenes angrily before also realizes who it is. The two argue about what occurred years before but Kiara tries to see that he seems to have changed in a way and gives him a chance. As she stays at pride rock, her and Kovu eventually become mates and Mufasa passes away from old age.

On the day of their coronation and wedding, Kiara sends Rafiki out looking for her sister whom she desperately wants to see on her special day. He finds a sad sulking Nala in the forest and tells her of Kiara and Kovu's special day. Bagheera and Nala question the monkey but he convines Nala of the news and brings them back to the pridelands just in time for the reveal. She watches from afar before tackling her sister in happiness, finally reunited after such a long time apart.
