This is like attending a math lecture, you can sort of understand the path solving when its explained but you just got stuck for hours when trying to solve the homework yourself.

dear lord this is a crazy puzzle.. solved it in just under 2 hours and completely destroyed my productivity today haha.. had to bifurcate multiply times.. got to a similar position as you got to at around 36 minutes in the video except i had 9's placed in block 5+6, and R7 resolved in block 8. i noticed c5r9 was restricted to just 2/4 by the arrows, and noted that if i bifurcated this square, regardless whether i chose 2/4 i would get like 8 more squares in the grid immediately.. it's not elegant but that means that this square is perfect for bifurcation.. anyway, i guess now of to do something useful before the day is gone :/

Thanks a lot for featuring my puzzle on your channel!
It was great to see you plough through it. At some points it was surprising to me how you used slightly different logic from what I expected when constructing the puzzle.

“Give yourself at least 1 hour”... yeah, sure. One hour is my time for the simple sudoku. I think I will take a day off for this one. LoL

Thanks again for a great puzzle. Keep up the great work with the channel and he apps.

Man, I love those puzzles with no given number clues. They have extra charm and beauty.

"Give yourself at least an hour" you explain how you solve it in 46min ..
What you solve in 10 min took me 1 hour.
what you explain how to solve in 10 min will take me a day.
I need a week to solve this .. if some how I solve it.
but I will try.

He says to plan on taking an hour to solve this puzzle and the 2nd time he does this one it takes him 43 minutes to do. I am not a masochist so I just watched the video today.

The logic at 35 minutes in for solving the 8 in the center square is absolutely ridiculous. Lots of the other steps in this puzzle take 200iq, but that part takes 300iq... I've done pretty good at solving a lot of the puzzles on this channel on my own given enough time, but I was completely lost on this after about 2 minutes. Didn't even attempt it, this is completely nuts

Hahahahaha they put Shinya Hīragi
in the thumbnail bc the puzzle was made by another Shinya. Amazing.

Okay... hmm... uh... yeah, I have no idea where to even start here. Guess I'll just watch this one and learn something.

Simon’s live solve videos are far superior to the ones where he tried to reconstruct the logic he previously used.

Soooo... I did it... Took me around 6 hours I think, over 4 days. But hey! I completed it without any help.
I'm loving these "hybrid" sudokus.
I also watched the full video after, and... Well... Simon makes it look so unbelievably easy.
It was a nice walkthrough also!

Watching your logic solving and explanation is such a joy. Thank you so much for taking the time to post puzzles like these, and explaining them so thoroughly!

Took me 3.5 hours to realize that the arrows point to smaller instead of larger.

Sometimes you see a puzzle and know that you only watch the video. Fun watch!

I normally give myself an hour, then I watch for 45 seconds to make sure I got it right so far.

Though solving these types of Sudoku's is impressive, designing them is even more impressive.

I know this has been a while ago, but I'm just watching it. @24:15 you got the 8 at the top of column 3. You could have gotten that particular digit quicker adding the column total and subtracting from 45. Specifically @22:16: 9 (r2c3) + 10 (next box down) + 11 (next box down) + 7 (2/5 pair at the bottom) = 37; 45-37=8 and that goes into r3c1. Then, @23:00 you could have saved a few seconds not having to do math on the 11 cage in column 3. Anyways, just spotted it, hope you thought the observation useful.

23:15 you could just add column 3 (that 9+10+11+7) which gives 37 that means in column 3 number 8 must be in row 1 and that puts 8 in column 2 row 6
