I like her, but I'm VERY partial to the Bill Withers version. Nobody else used the extremely cool fill as in his. Not BB King, either (at 1:30).

I think she sounds too happy for a song of despair. Bill Withers never sounded ecstatic, even if he just won the lottery. And he just did it with a bare bones band, no backup singers or anything. I'm not seeing all this stuff as necessary or adding anything. Not really a thumbs down. It still sounds good. I wanna hear more Merry Clayton in Gimme Shelter or Great gig in the Sky kind of vibe. Less Vegas-y.
