Excellent video Mr. Rose - as an entrepreneur that has gone through much of what you describe this has been a great video to show to my parents! Entrepreneurship, especially in the east can be a truly lonely experience where the expectation is to get a good paying job and it is difficult to explain to people why you would want to leave high paying, secure jobs for the roller coaster world of an entrepreneur.

A simple thank you for posting!

1st off.. What a great man you are David S. Rose and ty Ray Kurzweil for inspiring me many years ago when I watched the documentary Transcendent Man; ty for Singularity University also!

David, out of all the research I have done over the past 3 years towards manifesting change within the world; the video, the 10 things to know before a pitch to a VC and this video have been some of the most helpful information yet!

@22 mins... Edison Quote huh? then right after that talking about coping mechanisms for failure.... well, here is a fitting response and tip for all.... "I have not failed. I've just found 10, 000 things that didn't work. Thomas A. Edison ;-)
I focus on what I learned from the "failures" and relish that acquired knowledge; then I apply it to the next stages of life.
I think people take failure far too personally. There were tremendous amounts of factors that facilitated the failure.... identify what role you may have played in the failure for sure but be realistic as to what rough percentage of the blame lies on external factors also.

Additionally, I use perspective. All of "human" civilization is a fart on a tornado from the universe's perspective; our attempts at presumed "great success" even more so. When we fail we become 1 of the 10, 000, (10, 000, 000, 000 rather) things that don't work and our species learns from that also; so in that way we contribute to the overall success of every endeavor of "mankind".

@25 mins... Start ups are hard hmmm? Challenge accepted ;-P"

@29 mins... Perhaps if you're a genius you have almost zero compatibility with the rest of the population, (A life form like Tesla is what I refer to as tier 6 consciousness). Edison, (tier 5 consciousness) was likely brilliant whilst still compatible because he was not completely beyond the majority, (tier 4 consciousness). Edison was the epitome of the "porridge being just right" analogy. So, for those of you geniuses out there; learn from Tesla's failure and find a tier 5 to be your buffer. As a side note; what Tesla failed to achieve financially he made up for in the manifestation of wealth for the future forms of our consciousness, (philosophically; the only true wealth we can possess).

@37 mins... I relate to Steve Jobs in a massive way! This presentation has made me realize I am part entrepreneur, part founder and part visionary; I will adjust my plans accordingly. Thx for that. ;-)

@39 mins... We don't actually think anything alone. Knowledge pools + time + mental complexity level/logic = same ideas and answers.

@46 mins... Perhaps don't try to have a family if you want to be an entrepreneur? We are overpopulated anyway. ;-P" Again, David S. Rose is a truly amazing phenotype expression of biology. I would not attempt that life. For me it will be one or the other.

@50 mins... I expected to get a very different answer to that question.... Very surprised when I saw that question answered in the same way I wound have answered it.... epic! Go David again!

@51 mins... Again, philosophically; true wealth is possessed only in what we do to manifest a brighter tomorrow. What I refer to as the wealth of intentions for the future. David you are truly a wealthy man! You have earned my respect.... new hero acquired today! thx a ton!

@51:56 mins... wtf!? I use that analogy 2 or 3 times a week. Our minds are uncannily similar!

@54 mins... I have a plan to solve that issue and am doing just as you are suggesting. I have been educating, formulating and refining this plan for the past 17 years; it is a polished gem now and I am ready to file the paper work for the tax stamp... (it actually isn't really "my idea" but rather a combined channeling of knowledge pools; I also used the minds of gamers as massive think tank resource, (emergent hive mind processing power). The gamers of xboxlive would try to debate and nitpick my ideas; I used that feedback to overcome the obstacles presented and remove flaws).

I am a future serial entrepreneurial philanthropist, (again, more of a visionary/founder but I can steer the ship. I also identify my weaknesses and that's how I know that there are better people for the CEO position than myself). Like Steve Jobs, I am more of a connector modulator not the engineer or inventor, (even though I have a notebook full of inventions with no resources to build any of them :-( sadly). Some day I will though.

My wealth of intentions are going to waste. Everyday I work to manifest them but I am kind of like Tesla in the regard that I need buffers sometimes, (not a genius though; at least not by our current methods of testing. Likely my porridge is just slightly too hot though heh heh). "With science the answers we get are often not the answers we want."... I add to that quote, Sometimes the people that have the answers to our insurmountable problems are not always the ones you want to learn from or be lead by.

Jonathan, I'm sorry that you don't agree with some of the points I was making. While it's true that "entrepreneurship" defies precise quantification, that doesn't mean it is not a valid subject for study. The survey was by Professor John Gartner of Hopkins, and formed the basis for his book "The Hypomanic Edge". I highly recommend it if you are interested in the topic. For what it's worth, the majority of entrepreneurs who have heard this presentation strongly agree with its major themes. -DSR

This guys voice can get really really really annoying. He also needs to calm down a little. Other than that though good.
