Your Facebook profile picture - what it says about you

I will fully admit I am a Facebook junkie, mostly because it's the main source of communication I use for all of my
Wildly Alive Sisters, 24/7. Recently I have noticed something that has really bugged me about the images women use for their profile picture. Some of them are sending the wrong message. Although I know this isn't intentional, it is something that needs to be addressed.

Check out today's free coaching video and make sure you aren't guilty.

xo,
Nichole

P.S. While I was waiting for Wyatt to arrive I was working on something pretty sweet, that I know you'll enjoy. It's an opportunity for you to take Wildly Alive Weight Loss for a free "test drive." More info will be released soon once I get back from maternity leave, keep an eye out.

In today's free coaching video we're going to be talking about your Facebook profile picture.

Yeah. We're going to talk about that.

If you've been following me on Facebook for awhile you know that I'm pretty active on it. One thing that I see a lot of, are Facebook profile pictures where women are basically hiding.

Hiding behind who they truly are. They have a picture of their animal or they have some random picture of nature or even a picture of themselves. But it doesn't represent who they are right here, right now.

Being a Facebook junkie I've noticed something that really gets under my skin, when it comes to facebook profile pictures. I know this isn't intentional but it's sending the wrong message. Are you guilty? Before I jump into this, if this is you, I don't want you to feel any shame or guilt around this. Okay? My whole point of shooting this video is to prove to you that you deserve to be seen. You are beautiful as you are right now. You don't need to better yourself or lose weight to make your picture represent who you are right now. I want you to come out and I want you to shine!

Like it or not, Facebook is sticking around for a while. The truth is it's a pretty big deal in our society right now. When you hide yourself behind an object or an old picture, it creates this pressure. Oh my gosh, I really hope that I don't run into my friend who I haven't seen in 10 years. What if she doesn't recognize me? What if that she says something about how I look so fat now? Those thoughts create so much stress in your body. It's going to give you an unrealistic standard.

We have to remember that our bodies, especially as females, are always evolving and changing. After you had kids, striving for the body you had in college is unrealistic. You really have to embrace and love what you have right now. We don't want all this stress in your system because what happens when you're stressed out? You run to the sugar and the chips. It just perpetuates this unhealthy cycle.

You're basically saying to the world that being anonymous or being thin is more important than who you are right now.

Here's my assignment for you. This is really fun! Instead of choosing a picture that makes you look the thin, I want you to choose a picture where you look happy and wildly alive! If you don't have one, go take one! Go on an adventure to the beach or to them mountains or on a fun bike ride with a girlfriend. Try to have as much fun as you possibly can! We want this picture to represent who you are inside and out.

It's time for you to step out and shine! Because my dear, you are beautiful. You deserve to be seen.

That's a fun little assignment. No skipping this one, okay?

I want to make sure you've taken the wildly alive quiz. Have you taken it? You can sign up right on this video or in the links below. This quiz is going to show you why you keep shooting yourself in the foot when it comes to weight loss, which is no fun. Together we are going to create a wildly alive plan so can see that losing weight is fun. Yes, fun. It can be effortless and enjoyable.

Alright my dear. Have fun on your adventure. I can't wait to see your Facebook pictures. Bye.

Hi Nichole! How about YouTube profile photos? What do those say about us? Is it best to just show the face, or a full length? This is a very interesting topic, thanks for sharing!

Hi, I'm a male and though I think your intentions are pretty idyllic and noble, you gotta know that not everyone likes to share his pictures on social media, or online in general.
I'm deemed as a very handsome guy and pretty attractive, but I don't subscribe to this notion of sharing my picture on public areas, and so do many attractive people, therefore, in your example, if a woman doesn't want to put a profile picture of herself, it doesn't measn that she thinks of herself as goddamn ugly, she might just not find a point in doing that. There are people who wish for secrecy, there are people who would even find that sharing a picture of themselves just for the sake that other people see it is kind of asinine, and there are people who don't give a damn.
If she finds comfort in profile picture of a painting or a quote or bizarre annotation, be it, that would create space for an interesting conversation.
