You're right: there's much too much ambient noise to hear the mic's self noise. You need to disconnect the mic from the transmitter ... then you can hear the electronic noise that remains. (Compared to the RF link and the preamp in the transmitter, noise from the mic itself will probably be negligible.

This is a good demo that the range isn't very good. I notice, too, that the audio is really distorted. Some gain somewhere is set too high. Maybe it's the mic gain on the transmitter (is that adjustable? do they provide a level meter?), or maybe audioi gain on the camera. If you don't have a gain control then you need to insert a pad to lower the level (20dB is a good starting point). You seem to be finding a lot of problems with the gear you're reviewing. Maybe that's what you get when you buy at the bottom end of the price range. I wonder whether Amazon reviews (for example) reflect the same high failure rate that you're finding.

Honestly, I have been comparing this one with Pixel MK7. I am sick and tired of my lav mic with cables all over the place. Thank you for doing this video. I definitely think MK7 is better by far.

Finnaly an outside video lol. Boya sounds great with your voice. But I think I will not need a wireless mic. I record the sound on a Zoom h1 recorder and sync later when editing the video. Lost a drone? wich drone? I lost one once. B

The test showed BOYA's weakness with their wireless microphones. Yes, actually I can see BOYA having a big problem with range now. I bought a BOYA BY-WM4 a few years ago and I don't trust it. Easily loses coverage. For example, it may be just a few people nearby with smartphones that have WI-FI and Bluetooth turned on and for BOYA it becomes a dense radio atmosphere. Generally, many of the transmitters of other companies and not only BOYA have a problem with the barrier of the human body between the transmitter and receiver. They lose touch very quickly. I saw the test of the latest Saramonica BLINK500 B2 PRO on Youtube. The tester tested its operation in the bus station, where there was a large parking lot with many metal lanterns. After 20 meters with the human body barrier, there was no longer any connection between the transmitter and receiver. When the tester turned and the transmitter and receiver were without this barrier, the range was only about 40 meters because of the beacon. As far as I remember Saramonic provides 100 meters. The test showed that radio waves can be attenuated and scattered under such conditions. Tammy, thank you for this presentation.

I just tested the same equipment. So dissapointed. I pointed antennas parralel and lost signal after 7M outside without obstacles. I need at least 10m to be sure my audio doesnt lost while talking. I am thinking to return the Boya WFM12. Great video Tammy which wireless audio equipment you recommend for at least 10meters radius? EDIT: I tested again with receiver antenna pointed to sky and it works better. Now I have audio on 10 meters away from transmitter. But still they say 40m which is impossible to be working.

Subscribed, good review. Just an idea - you could've added some music on the timelapse, I think they turned out quite nicely. And the video at the end cuts out too soon i think.
