Despite all the nonsense in comments below and inaccuracy in this early ABC report, the shooter was not a homeowner but a criminal who rented an apartment nearby. None of the victims were armed; they were female traffic safety volunteers there to help keep people safe during the protest that hadn't even started yet. The 43-yr-old shooter expressed animosity toward antifa and BLM and support for Nazis, Proud Boys, and Kyle Rittenhouse. (Due to this behavior, the FBI had flagged him beginning in 2006.) He killed one safety volunteer with a close-range .45 bullet in her face. Another he paralyzed from the neck down with a bullet through her neck. Another was shot in the chest. He seriously wounded 2 others.

He pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, four counts of attempted murder, three counts of first-degree assault, and one count of second degree assault. He was sentenced on April 18, 2023, to life in prison. Then, may he rot in hell.

What exactly were you expecting to happen when armed "peaceful protesters" who have a reputation of attacking Portland police, businesses, and government building extended their "peaceful protests" into civilian neigbhoods? There is a limit to what Portland citizens will tolerate, and they have just reached that limit. Frankly, I thought the Kyle Rittenhouse tragedy when have been a wake up call. Oh well, some people need additional training.

the protestors who were at event didn't want to explain to the police what had transpired and just walked away. Ironically it was a social justice protest but they didn't want justice for the dead and injured victim. Let that sink in. 8pm protest while families are settling down, maybe finishing dinner and just trying to relax. I would feel some type of way too
