The Valley of Fear (Part One) by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

Sherlock Holmes is at his most sardonic in this, the fourth of Arthur Conan Doyle's novels to feature the Baker Street consulting detective and his loyal friend and chronicler, Dr. Watson. Holmes accompanies Inspector MacDonald of Scotland Yard to a moated manor house in Kent to investigate a particularly grisly murder. All is not as it at first appears and even White Mason, a formidable local detective is stumped. Holmes applies his usual methods and the fog clears a little, in this the first part of The Valley of Fear.

I have listened to nearly all of your Sherlock Holmes stories and I can't get enough of them! This is exactly what Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson must sound like, I will not accept anything else. The way you bring them to life is unrivalled. When I have listened to all the stories I am sure to suffer from withdrawal symptoms.

So many a night I find myself listening to the narration for much longer than I had intended just because I am so captivated by the talent of the reader. I've listened to other readers and have been able to fall asleep quickly because I don't get so wrapped up in the stories the way I do when listening to this reading.
