Показать описание
Album: The Divine Ms. Cline
Utgitt: 2013
Låtskrivere: Howard E Johnson / Peter De Rose
Thor Einar Ribe plays piano and keyboards
A new duet featuring legendary country superstar Patsy Cline with Norway's popular singer Arne Benoni, is headed up the charts. "Have You Ever Been Lonely (Have You Ever Been Blue)?" is contained on a new CD called "The Divine Ms. Cline," issued in Europe on the H&H label. It features new overdubs of 20 of Patsy's studio tracks, along with 6 previously unreleased "in concert" recordings by the late American singer. Produced by Larry Jordan, whose VoiceMasters CDs have debuted new songs by Jim Reeves since 2002, (one of which, "I Know One," also included a "duet" with Benoni in 2012), the release is intended to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Cline's passing in 2013.
On many of Patsy's original songs, producer Owen Bradley inexplicably allowed the musicians and backup singers to upstage her exquisite contralto. This CD puts Cline back in the spotlight. The original recordings have been stripped down, Patsy's vocals given 24-bit digital remastering for better clarity, and then combined with tasteful new instrumentation by some of the best musicians, singers and orchestrators working today. Current members of the Grand Ole Opry band, Nashville musicians and even Arne Benoni and some of his musician friends — including Thor Einar Ribe and Peter Lundell — helped create the beautiful new music.
Commenting on the project, Arne reflects, "I've always admired Patsy, and when Larry Jordan gave me the opportunity to sing 'with her' and play acoustic guitar on 'Have You Ever Been Lonely,' it made my day. The guitar part was quite easy because I've played this song many times in the past, but to sing with Patsy was a little harder, because her phrasing is special in places. I soon discovered that we're singing in the same key, and therefore did some unison singing with her here and there in addition to the harmony. I hope her fans and mine, like our new rendition of the old song."
Indeed they do. Those who have heard "The Divine Ms. Cline," describe it as "awesome," "elegant," "sumptuous," and "better than the originals." You can hear audio samples at
