Always thought the 2014 team was more offensive driven, but it was REALLY good at that….especially having a young up and coming James, Cuadrado if deployed at Winger, and of course El Tigre….Radamel Falcao (who I think they REALLY missed in the 2014 World Cup. They possibly beat Brazil with him up top).

They haven’t played anyone worth comparing to Uruguay or Argentina, they are pretty good but the 2014 Colombia was killing it against great teams, if they hadn’t broken Neymar’s back maybe I’d have a higher view of that team too, they might have even made it to the semis without that extra motivation for Brazil(and then gotten smoked by Germany)

I would compare this team to the 1987-1994 team. The issue is how would they cope with the pressure on being a World Cup favorite in 2026 if they keep this form. That is what hunted the 1994 team.

Do not forget that 2014 Cuadrado was an assist machine for James Golden Boot performance. If 2014 did NOT have that BS referring that they had against Brazil (which Brazil went 7-1 to Germany afterwards), I think Colombia would have gave Germany a hell of a performance.

I am Colombian and I am not agreeing with what you said. 2014 Colombia was immaculate and they were thirsty for a Championship. After playing against teams who were elite but not better than them the referees helped and benefited our opponents. Thus, Colombia went back and said we will just become an unstoppable force where not even the referees can obstruct our path to our objective.
