I am a woman and I agree with you. I appreciate the book as a piece of classic literature but this must have been the Twilight Saga of its time. The characterizations are so bad I find myself rooting for Edgar Linton. He seems to be the only decent person in this tale. If I didn't know any better I would've thought the lovers were the villains of the story as awful and mean spirited as they are.

One of the worst books i was ever forced to read for school. Boring and absolutely tteeeerrrriiibbbllleee story. Not just because i'm a guy either, nobody should like this book, not even women. The love story is awful, there isn't even a happy ending. It's just some symbolic bullcrap. Then all the characters are whiny, annoying, and treat each other terribly, and generally act like a bunch of rich, spoiled, irritating individuals.
