As an engineer, I really like your videos and how you explain these topics! I often recommend them to our newer employees at work since their base education from school often leaves a lot of gaps in the fundamentals they need.

I went to university to study IT and I always felt super dumb (I failed the very first year lol), could never understand networks. Now, I am taking a cybersecurity online certificate and I must say, I understand it thanks to YOU!!!! I can't express how grateful I am for your videos, I finally get this!!! thank you so so much <3

I'm new to IT and have been taking courses to transition into this field. I wanted to express my gratitude for the time and effort you put into these videos. I am a visual learner, and these have been so incredibly helpful to me. You break things down so clearly! Thank you for helping us IT newbies not feel so intimidated and lost :)

One minor point. While MAC addresses are supposed to be unique, this isn't always so. Some manufacturers have been known to reuse them. Regardless, since MAC addresses are relevant only on the local network, this is usually not a problem. With IP, the MAC address is discarded at the first router and replaced with the MAC address of the interface on the next hop, etc.. Also, there are some links that don't have a MAC address. These would typically software created links, such as VPNs. The router only has to know how to reach the next hop and that can be designated by just the interface.

The amazing part of all of this MAC addressing hop-scotching over the internet to find that Google server is that it all happens in milliseconds.
