1) Reach high, then grip. 2) accordion lower part up, grip. 3) relax upper, strecth up, grip. 4) repeat steps 2 and 3, until desired height is achieved.

That’s exactly how water moccasins climb up onto the boat docks at night and get up into the rafters. Also, trees along the creeks and rivers.
