Thank you Sam. A timely review. My mother Daphne Pamela, passed away on 1st May, aged 90. Her love of red roses, and such a little lady in stature but as tough as the Pecket. A model I shall save up for, even though I model in N . This is a great video . Super super super. Love the channel. Keep reviewing Peckets . 🙏

Pecket Mfg Co : "Lining?"
Daphne : " *yes* "

Cute and beautiful thing, it's a display piece on its own. Very sad to know that the real one exists and is in bad shape :(

Dear Sam
a suggestion when doing a loco review and you put the loco down on the track to do a test run, well we cannot see what you are doing when you turn the knob, e.g. the loco stops but was it the loco or was it you turning the power off. My suggestion is to have showing on the screen a volts and an amps meter as you do this test so we can see how much each loco draws

I love the Pecketts and my Dad got me a W4 for my birthday! He recently passed and whenever I look at the little loco I think of him.

As I often say about Hornby this is too expensive, but if I were to buy a Hornby Peckett this would be the one. A very lovely engine, and a good yearly tradition!

If I was still modelling in 00, I'd definitely get me one of these gorgeous babies. I would, though, also try to organize a semi-permanently-coupled 'shunter's truck' situation with extra pickups, like the Sentinel. Since it's an industrial loco, that would be justifiable. The livery colour looks very much like Midland red, and I've always thought that MR livery looks great on any loco. Almost as good as the Armstrong/Dean GWR livery...

Thanks for showing us this lovely little loco.

I can never get enough of the W4 Pecketts. I love pugs in general, and the Pecketts are such high quality little shunters. I really want one, once I either find the money or find a good deal on a used one.

edit: on the subject of reviewing more Pecketts, if you ever wanted to do a really uneconomical video, you could always get all the different liveries you don't have, and review the various liveries. Maybe do it as some sort of a raffle, where people can buy tickets to enter, and then after you review all the various liveries, you raffle off some of them to recoup costs? I know I'd be willing to chuck a little money at a chance of getting a Peckett, and I bet you could get enough raffle entries to break even.

Thanks Sam, I value your reviews and have purchased way too many model trains based on your positive reviews! Keep up the good work, much appreciated

Oh god, don't tempt me to start getting Peckett, it looks gorgeous in that colourscheme!

Yeessss I've been waiting to see some locomotives pulling/pushing rolling stock *backwards* during the running session! I don't know why but I love seeing engines run in that direction more than the normal forward-facing pulling direction.

Going to get one for my grandfather as a surprise for his OO gauge! I can only find the blue "Bear" peckett but it will do! these little things look awesome! Was hard to find such a good review and you smashed it! got me convinced!

Could you imagine an 040… without all wheel pickup?

That sounds horrifying!

Hi All. Love the Colour of that little Loco.
Having had an 'Aunt Daphne', I maybe forced to buy one. Why..!?

Amusingly "Aunt Daphne' was Terrified of Flying Birds. ( Yep, Absolutely Wet Knickers and Screaming.)
Once, when allowing my Budgie to Fly free. Daphne walked in..! When the Budgie flew over Daphne, she turned about the Same Colour and Screamed like a Trains whistle..!

So I must have one of these to Remember Daphne..!
Cheers All. Kim in Oz. 😎

Ps. Up to that Point None of my Family knew about Aunt D's. Issue with Birds.
My Budgie was always in his Cage and Covered for future Visits..!
Sorry Aunt Daphne we Didn't know..! Truely..!! 😈

Great review Sam ( as Always ) Thanx. 😎

Excellent review, as always. Always lovely to see a Peckett! Odd one out being the Sam's Trains 0-4-0 due to the tender?

I still think my pick of the Pecketts is the Huntley and Palmers livery, I just wish there was one without the company lettering.

I'll keep an eye out for one. I think it'll fit in as a shunter on my railway since it's in a red, gold and black livery.

Someone really could break into the market with cheaper, railroad/lima standard locos. I'm old, my eyesight doesn't require high detail product I can't see anymore and I'm tired of being ripped off by the Big Two. I frankly wouldn't care if I was buying breach of copyright/lawsuit knockoffs (think Fender or Gibson guitar replicas) at this point. Ridiculous and totally off-putting to young folk who haven't the expendable income that the target demographics for Hornby and Bachmann have. What happens when the grey legions pass away?
