Trying POSTER COLOR!

What is poster color? It's a lot like gouache! It's a pigment-based, water-soluble, opaque paint. The primary difference between gouache and poster color is that the pigment granules in poster color are larger - potentially making it more opaque - and it's made with lower quality pigments overall. This means it isn't as light fast. It's original purpose for for graphic design! Things like posters, backgrounds, etc! Let's discover its other qualities together!

I used to use poster color a lot a long time ago. That time I used them pretty tick consistency and it stayed pretty opaque. It's interesting to see it using it like watercolor. The colors are beautiful.

idk what its like in other places but where i live poster paint comes cheap in like big tubs and kids use it because its washable but i guess this is better quality stuff it looks a lot better than when i played with when i was 5

From where I am, Poster colours are basically the cheap alternatives for gouache.

Where I live we used to use Faber Castle poster colours in elementary school and they had the same packaging and were quite cheap and aimed towards kids.

I’ve been wanting to try poster paints for a while. Another artist that I follow on insta uses them and I always thought it was gouache. But I love that these come in little jars rather than tubes. I’ve been transferring my gouache from tubes to little pots and adding water to replicate the jelly cup style. Works great, but these are definitely on my list to try soon. By the way the quality of this live is phenomenal! What is the setup?

before i got the himi gouache set i used these as gouache lol

We have hardly any poster colors, there are such opaque colors in big cakes for children and such washable children's paint in 500ml bottles in supermarkets and 1 € shops, otherwise I don't know what is similar. there is Plaka paint from Pelikan in glasses that are quite expensive for children's paints. A glass costs around 4 €, as far as I know it is a waterproof casein paint.
Poster paint is a cheaper alternative for gouache and watercolor paints if a lot of paint is needed for backgrounds. that's how I understood it now.
