Always skipped lunch and worked late most of the time. Can see issues a mile away and can read people like an open book :)

I was working late one evening with a couple of colleagues when our new boss was introduced to us. He spoke to us for no more than 15 seconds and in the time I worked out he was he was immature and useless. When he left my colleague stated that he seemed like a nice bloke I said he was an idiot and won’t last 6 months. My colleagues said I was far too judgmental. He lasted 7 months before he was moved on and by that time everyone hated him. ADHD is my super power and I would not change it for the world.

I’m the one who is calm during a crisis IF my life has enough balance and I’m not burnt out. When I’m exhausted from work and life and don’t have the proper support or recharge time, I’m overstimulated and unable to regulate myself to be “the calm” one. Which sucks because I know I’m capable of it but not in that moment so it can be confusing for others when that’s the case.

I call it being a dot connector and I also say I can see around corners others cannot. I actually leverage that AND my intuition as part of my approach (I do marketing for architects) because I can and DO pull a bunch of stuff out of their heads they aren’t even aware of.

So that said my mind is freakin’ BLOWN right now - I am 52 and my having it was brought up (not by me) for the first time ever a few months ago up. literally not even once before it. I was shocked but basically everything makes sense now.

So thank you! For helping me connect the dots and laugh at the same time. This and the one that references hating big spoons and slow walkers - I feel so seen. :) You are appreciated!

Actually, you just helped me a ton. There's some great interview points on here that I didn't even realize I could genuinely use. Thank you❤

It’s also the reason that I become the best at any job within 6 months, then get bored and impulsively quit.

it's true, I can't bring myself to do the washing up but in a emergency situation I'm the ringmaster bringing the circus together

I've always been the best team member in all of my jobs. Super productive, know the codebase like the back of my hand ('cause I wrote and rewrote most of it) and developped tools to make the company better at what it does without being asked because the caffein buzz and my meds hit at the same time one day and I got in the zone.

I've also been fired from every single job because of tardiness while there's people still there who spend 99% of their time watching youtube at their desk and taking smoke breaks.

Go figure.

I wish I had known all this information after high school. I used to get fired from my 1st handful of jobs because of being late. I worked in retail and LOVED inventory. I would always find ways to be more efficient. They would recognize (sometimes) the effort and my work ethic, but at the end of the day, I was still repeatedly late.

And he then just replied: "is that the reason you have the need to justify yourself and overexplain, too?? Calm down, you're doing a great job and we appreciate you and your work!" ❤

I'm on a "final warning" for being late at my current job (that I've been at for almost 3 years). Thing is, I'm the ONLY employee who NEVER takes breaks. In reality, they are about to fire me for working too much!!

I'm kind of living this at the momemt. I work at a fine art supply store and am one of the only "professional" framers, and I get shit done. But, I am late several times a week, however not one person has complained in over a year. It's really great that people are coming around, and kind of looking at what people can do instead of what they can't.

I was always late to work and late to leave work. Balanced out

Worst thing about unmanaged ADHD is that you would think outside the box, but you can't find the box

Good for you to make him clear! ADHD is a curse but under the right circumstances is our biggest strength. I'm gonna take this for me. ❤
