Here I explain how to spot a fake sociopath (aspd) because there’s an epidemic of people feigning mental health disorders.

A decade ago, I got a TBI that affected certain emotional processing areas of the brain. Now I have very strong ASPD tendencies. Because I lived half my life without them, I remember what it felt like to have empathy and a conscience. It was torturous for years until some of it came back online (and it flicks on and off unpredictably).

The idea of people faking it feels like they'd give themselves away so easily. People with empathy get upset at very minor things.

Ugh. I hate when people consider any diagnosis to be trendy. Mental health issues = not trendy, and anyone who thinks so can walk a day or two in my shoes and then reevaluate.
I do appreciate your honesty. <3

Someone was telling me I cannot be ASPD because I can feel empathy or at least understand how someone else feels, it’s not that I can’t understand how they feel, I just don’t care or simply turn that off when I need to.

On some mental health forums, there are people who asked fearfully if they may have ASPD. Ummmm...nooo. If you were a sociopath, you wouldn't care. You certainly wouldn't be SCARED of it. 😅

I was a raging alcoholic I only care about my child and husband. Everyone else is to be used to my advantage. I have emotions, mostly manipulation and anger, but I can turn into sales barbi when I need too. I have narcissistic tendencies I was diagnosed with ASPD, in my 3rd stay in a baker act patient. I was a wreck until I was depressed and found a phycriast that I couldn't bullshit. Then I learned how to behave better and to use my abilities to emulate any personality that is appropriate for occasions because back then I didn't understand feelings. I was so angry all the time.

And this is how you know who’s educated on sociopathy. Socios totally have emotions, saying they are emotionless is wild

Someone who used to be very close to me is diagnosed with ASPD and would actually absolutely freak out if I called them a sociopath. I will say they are a vulnerable narcissist and wanted to be perceived as soft, selfless and caring.

I have a cousin who is a diagnosed sociopath. She has never done anything wrong in that sense. She lives a normal life. She is a lawyer, so it comes in handy in her profession. Other then that it’s only us in the family who can tell she lacs empathy and remorse and feelings like that.

She has learned herself to act out the proper feelings for the right situations, but she can’t actually feel them.

I knew a self aware sociopath and I knew exactly what he was upto during our conversations the entire time, he was even open about how he was able to behave around others. He would focus the entire conversation on me and mimic my experiences to seem relatable, I found it amusing and played along. I'm not sure if he knew I knew (I'm sure he did) but he did try and experiment on my BPD insecurities and it didnt work because I've had 15 years in therapy. He told me he was leaving and he thought I would be emotional but I just wished him well and didn't care, never heard from him since 😂😂 I don't think it annoyed him or anything, he was just very curious about how I would react and I was just a curiosity to him and a learning opportunity

I am on the schizophrenia spectrum and the mental gymnastics i go through from explaining why i am offended when people use psychotic in a derogatory (non-diagnostic) way vs explaining why i prefer to use (and why its appropriate to use) the word psychotic for myself is... i just can't

I could see faking sociopathy to hide the fact that you really care and to avoid being hurt again. 💜🕊

I think I actually got a temporary version of psychopathy a few times when the dentist gave me sweet air. It did a weird thing where on the way home I would go through red lights, I’d speed. I went shopping and didn’t care what anything cost.

It took me a while to figure out what I was experiencing, or how to explain it. The only way I could describe it was I would walk across the street without caring about cars (when my dentist office was across the street), or how I drove (when dentist was across town). I didn’t care if my words hurt anyone or if I offended anyone, or what they said to me.

But each time, after it wore off, I was back to my old self. It’s just the way my body metabolizes sweet air, I guess.

Yes! I’m a “real one” too…not ASPD, but bipolar disorder, PTSD (don’t pull rank if you have CPTSD…it didn’t exist when I was diagnosed), and ASD. Childhood traumatic experiences scale…off the charts, juvenile delinquency and an adult record. Why anyone would want to have that kind of history or mental illness is beyond me. They don’t really want to. They just want to SAY they do. Wannabe mentally ill and neurodivergent folks…relax. Everyone has an interesting history and background. I wish I’d had experiences like “normal” family holidays, more than 6-8 months of high school total (across 4-5 different schools), prom, high school sweethearts, afterschool and summer jobs (instead of hustles), been in a yearbook or activities, graduated junior high, got a license at 16, gone to college or trade school on time, etc. You do not want to have a psychiatric disorder, a record, a trail of destruction, or a street history! The latter 3 just become a pile of regrets! When people do wannabe a troubled teen or adult, a street hustler, etc…it’s easy to tell! That just lets people know you have vulnerabilities and are not happy with who you are. No “real one” would ever think someone is lame or fake, for having a more normal life than they do. Plenty of us spend our time pretending to be normal! Whoever you are, be yourself. That’s what others respect! ❤️‍🩹🫡

I see a lot of women trying to FAKE ASPD they actually are copying what she says but don't know how to explain it they just use buzz words & wrong meanings. Glad she is addressing this.
