"'Cos I still got the lemons for you." Nice playing, dude.

It’s made me realise just how much of the work our 3rd finger does. Kudos to you John for finding ways around it. A fully fit JR would have ripped on that guitar!

Hi John, nice guitar. Great playing too. There's no need to apologise there are plenty of us out here with a full set of working fingers who can't do what you just did.

Dave Simpson mentioned the old ones were better than the new ones. and by now there maybe are even newer ones. It might be worthwhile to take that aspect in consideration.

Love my Mick Ronson Vintage. Similar spec but plays so well! Likewise, the relic work on the Lemon Drop put me off so I did a Greeenie on the pickup to get the same signature sound. Keep the real world reviews and hope the hand gets better soon 👍

I'm with you on the relic thing. Silly

nice guitar, and nice jamz, too. the problem you have with the controls doesn't ONLY come from the cheaper pots and capacitors. it's also due to the routing of the wires and the type of pots they used. if you swap out the pots for 500k linear taper ones, (not audio taper) and change the way the capacitor is wired into the circuit, you'll get what you're after. as you said, it's not hard or expensive to do. in fact, seymour duncan has wiring diagrams for almost any possible scenario you can dream up. the "vintage" wiring diagram for 2 hums, 4 pots and a 3 way switch is the one that will deliver the behavior you are seeking.

I managed to get a second hand non-relic'd version a couple of years ago. It's a 2011 model in mint condition. Can't believe I got it for £199. Absolute bargain. And like you John, I also have a Gibson Tribute Les Paul. Difficult to say which one I like best but of course if I am in an out of phase state of mind it can only be the Vintage!

Don't belittle your playing, John. You demonstrated tha Vintage very well. Know something? It looks very much like my Harley Benton SC450GT. The headstocks are awy too similar!

Very Cool, Thankyou. Awesome Guitar Review/Demo and playing as always. I missed one of these on Marketplace for $500- Australian, still having nightmares about missing it. lol. My Artist Guitars AP59 has eased the pain as my 'Substitute'. All the Best. Cheers

I agree, relic'ing is crap. Aging an electric guitar on the other hand can be very good.
I watched a video the other day where 3 or 4 guitars were given a special low temperature treatments (in Austria I think), where the guitars were dropped down to -180* (not sure if that was C of F) to artificially age the wood and it had very good results in making the guitars much more mellow to play and got rid of the twangy sound that new guitars tend to have. It did cause some mild cracking in the guitar finish but it gave the guitars just a really nice sound.

I've owned 3 V100s at various times including the " Greenie " fantastic playing and sounding guitars but you need the earlier versions imo 👍 I've got a Japanese Edwards Les Paul now which will blow any Gibson away for specs and craftsmanship, but the V100s are very comparable .

Hello John, clear to see your adapting as I said you would, You will come out the other side stronger, all the best... Great vid. Those Vintage were once cheep, seems now could be a bargain. We go by your Thoughts..

I'm with you John, never understood why anyone would throw money on a guitar that looks like it has been drugged behind a truck. I just prefer my own dings and chips.

Interesting. I have one of theses, and I love it. As for using the volume control to clean it up, I NEVER do that. I have a foot switch that plugs into the amp that does that. The volume controls are ( as the name suggests) for controlling volume!

Even with a dodgy finger can still make the plank sing. That was some tasty playing sir :)
Lovely geetar is that :)
If anything id strip the finish off entirely and go for a nice natural finish ;)

I have an early version of one of these for which I paid the princely sum of £150. I hate the relicing, but love the feel and sound of the instrument and therefore ignore the way it looks.

I'm selling mine on ebay and reverb currently with upgraded controls that can be fitted cheaply. 🎸
