Last week would have been Danny Kaye's 100th birthday. If you've never seen this video of Danny Kaye and the great Satchmo (Louis Armstrong) performing "When the Saints Go Marching In" from The Five Pennies, do yourself a favor and take 3 minutes and 20 seconds to watch it. It's good stuff... you won't be disappointed! Happy belated birthday David Daniel Kaminsky, AKA Danny Kaye!

Danny Kaye was a superb entertainer: comedy actor, singer, dancer. I was amazed to discover a few years ago that he'd had no formal dance training. I wish they'd show more of his films on TV these days.

Wonderful performance! Either of these two dudes on their own is fabulous to listen to, but together, they're just totally incredible! Fantastic!!! 😁

I thank God that I am now almost 90 years of age, and that I had the good fortune to have seen these artists in their prime, just being able to watch recordings of Superstars, brings back some wonderful memories (and the odd tears to my eyes). Stars like this make the so called stars of today look like a pile of crap.

The scatting in the end was unbelievably powerful and under control. 😳

THIS WAS THE GREATEST AMOUNT OF TALENT IN HISTORY. THESE TWO GENTLEMEN HAD MORE TALENT IN THEIR PINKY THEN WHAT YOU SEE IN HOLLYWOOD TODAY. THAT WAS THE GOLDEN ERA.

There must have been 3 billion dollars worth of talent on that stage during this production. Watching Lous Armstrong and Danny Kaye is like seeing Michelangelo sculpt and Da Vinci paint. A true template for all others to follow.

I love Louis Armstrong. God bless the family who helped raise him. What a talent. I love Danny Kaye as well. I wish we had talents like this nowadays.

" Five Pennies " has always been one of my favorite movies since I first saw it in the 1950s, and a chance to see this scene ( have seen it about 150 times) is a real treat again...Danny Kaye has to be one of the best entertainers ever for all the different talents he had, Singing, Dancing, Acting, Comedy, Funny Voices..would have liked to get to know him..Saw Satchmo in Vancouver in the 1960s, a year before he passed away..he too was fabulous..

If you never saw this film (The Five Pennies), this scene is the best, but the movie will have you in tears.

Holy Cow! This is one of the most AMAZING duets from two of the most talented performers in Hollywood history!! Armstrong and Danny Kaye were great on their own...but put them together here....the result is pure magic! I'm sure you're both now making the angels smile in Heaven. :))

From the performance to the musicians, it just got better and better until you hoped by some chance it would never end. Pure awesomeness!!!

I'm 82 now and this show reminded me of my father who taught me to love jazz when I was a girl and I still remember the melody and words. Me favorite singer was and still is, is Louis Armstrong.

Desde España. Cuando era pequeña me encantaba ver las películas de Dannlly Kaye. Me hacía reír muchísimo y ahora me ha alegrado verlo después de más de 40 años.
