If you mow 2-3 times a week, the clippings will be short enough that you don't really need to bag them unless you want to. They add nutrients back to the soil and will help retain water in the hotter months. More frequent mowing will also help keep weeds under control without having to use a weed killer to keep them out.

I used to mow 3 times a week M/W/F, and on Friday, I would bag it and have it ready for the weekend if anyone came over. Just so a bunch of dead stuff isn't on the top of the grass.

As for height, it depends on what you want from your lawn, the type of grass you have, and the weather. Cool-season grasses in mild (60-75)climates will thrive being short(<1.5”) however, the same grass in a hotter climate (80+) should actually be tall (>2.5”) to prevent moisture loss. Plenty of people are able to keep cool-season grass short in hotter climates, but they have gotten their processes down to a fine point. I used a blade mower and would have it on it’s tallest setting and only get the tips

IMO, I would aim for mowing 2-3 times a week which helps with keeping weeds out, bag 1x a week, water early in the morning, and keep the grass above 2.5” until all your spots have grown in.

You can put the grass mulch around your trees and shrubs or leave them on the grass esp if you're cutting it so often..

When I cut my lawn I leave the grass clippings so that they can use it as fertilizer always comes back very beautifully my only problem now is my neighbor's chickens they keep digging holes in my lawn but I would say cut your lawn often enough so that you don't have to pick up any clippings so that the clippings would be used as fertilizer I would say cut it every 3 days

Great job, but go to your local big box store and grab some yard waste bags. They come in great use when the bins fill up.

If you stop bagging your clippings and use a mulching mower the clippings will fertilize your lawn and you won't have to worry about where to put them.

garbage bin is a mistake definitely get some wire to make a compost bin just let it turn into a dirt mound that you can then spread where needed like the holes that you had to fill in

Your yard will actually do better if you leave the clippings and then bag them after it dies off. The clippings act as a natural fertilizer

if you have an organic lawn don't waste the law clippings. You can setup beds and use it for growing fruits and veggies.
